“PM Modi closely monitored the situation after the initiative attack”: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Web Desk, 28/04/2025

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the people of the country and is closely monitoring the situation in response to a cruel terrorist attack in Pahgam on 22 April.

Speaking to ANI, the Union Minister said, “After the incident in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Modi has assured the countrymen. He is monitoring the situation. Whatever decision the Government of India takes, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of External Affairs, they are not publicly interpreted.”

Singh also highlighted the security works going on in the Kathua-Audhampur belt, “The idea of organizing a meeting here was as some activities have been going on in the Udhampur belt for the last few days.”

Earlier in the day, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the entire nation is angry with the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, saying that terrorists and those who plan to attack will be brought into justice.

Talking to reporters, Arjun Meghwal said, “The whole country is angry with the terrorist incident in Pahgam. A consensus meeting has been held with the opposition, and the Prime Minister has made a strong announcement from the soil of Bihar.”

He said, “Wherever the terrorists are hiding, they will definitely be punished, and their owners who orchestrated the terrorist attack will also be held accountable,” he said.

On 22 April, the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir targeted tourists, killing 26 people, including a Nepali National. The victims were closed near Besaran Meadow, a popular tourist destination in the region.

The attack is one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, resulting in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans.

In response, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams have been posted on the site from 23 April. These teams, led by senior anti-terrorism agency officials, have intensified their efforts to gather evidence. Eyewitnesses watching the attack are being questioned in the dialect to connect the incidents together.

The Indian Army has also started several operations in a state with alert height to neutralize the terrorists involved. After the attack, nationwide protests erupted, demanding strict action against Pakistan for their alleged role in sponsoring terrorism.

On 23 April, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met and gave detailed information about the attack. The committee strongly condemned the incident and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, while also wished for a fast recovery of the injured.

As part of the response, India has taken an important step by taking back its defense, Navy and aerial advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

These posts are now considered canceled, and five assistant staff members of service advisors will also be withdrawn by both missions. (AI)
