China is retaliating against US President Donald Trump’s tariff, promoting direct sales of luxury goods to consumers from Chinese manufacturers at low prices. From the product handbags to apparel and cosmetics, they are particularly lower than retail with prices. On X, many American Ticketkok users shared videos with Chinese suppliers showing high quality products made for luxury brands such as Birkin and Louis Wuiton. These suppliers offer consumers directly to a fraction of retail price, often without brand logo. In these videos, Chinese suppliers emphasize high quality materials and efficient labor for the manufacture of products.
A user shared such a video on X, “China Tiktok is so dirty RN because now that the Chinese government has legalized fake products of all American goods due to tariffs, they are now highlighting a lot of big brands and how their goods are manufactured and encourages them to buy China at home.”
A supplier of the Birkin bag revealed that the production cost of a bag for $ 34,000 (Rs 29,23,320) is around $ 1,400 (Rs 1,20,372). The supplier claimed that bag makers receive the minimum profit margin, while the luxury brand retains most of the profit due to its logo and branding. “More than 90 percent of the value is for logo, but if you do not care about people and want the same quality, similar materials, you can just buy from us,” they say in the video.
