Beijing:
China on Thursday confirmed its support for peace efforts in Ukraine and stated that relevant parties should avoid “irresponsible comments”, remarks about Chinese citizens fighting for Russia in a clear job of President Volodimier Zelanski.
Zelansky said on Wednesday that Ukrainian Intelligence was aware of 155 Chinese citizens fighting in Ukraine. He was speaking after catching two Chinese citizens in eastern Ukraine, where Russian soldiers are moving forward.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Gian said, “I would like to reiterate that China is not a creator of the Ukrainian crisis, nor is China a part of a part. We are a strong supporter and active promoter of a peaceful agreement of crisis.”
He said, “We urge to correctly understand the role of concerned parties and not to release the role of China properly and not to release the individual comments,” he explained at a regular news conference without naming the Zelanski or any other officials.
China, which has announced the “no-lymph” partnership with Russia, has tried to place himself as an actor in efforts to end the war. It has refrained from criticizing Ukraine’s entire scale invasion of Russia on a full scale.
Zelansky said Russia was recruiting Chinese citizens through social media, that Chinese officials knew about it and Ukraine’s security service compiled a list of names, birth dates and Russian military units where they were assigned.
Zelansky also said on Wednesday that Ukraine was trying to assess whether Chinese recruits were getting instructions from Beijing.
Reuters could not independently verify the claims of Zelansky, which China on Wednesday rejected as “baseless”.
Spokesperson Lynn reiterated that the Chinese government always requested its citizens to stay away from armed conflict areas, “and especially to avoid participating in military action on both sides”.
Zelancesi reduced the deployment of Chinese citizens as Russia’s “second mistake” in war, Ukraine and Western countries described over 11,000 North Korean troops in Russia’s Cursa region.
Russia has not made any public remarks on Zelanceci’s statements about Chinese fighters and has never clearly confirmed the deployment of North Korean soldiers in its Kursk region.
