Canada PM Mark Karney visits Toronto Temple for Ram Navami celebrations

Ottawa:

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney joined the Hindu community at the BAPS Sri Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto for the first day of the Ram Navami celebrations and gave his heartfelt greetings for the festival.

Navri, which means in Sanskrit ‘nine -day festival, also known as Rama Navratri, ends on Rama Navami, which marks Lord Rama’s birthday.

Sharing a post on Sunday (local time) on X, Carney wrote, “For the first day of Ram Navami celebrations @baps_toronto joined the Hindu community members yesterday. Thank you for sharing my traditions and culture with me. Happy Ram Navami!”

Cabinet Minister Anita Anand shared pictures of Carney going to the temple on the occasion of Ram Navami. Sharing a post on X, he wrote, “To celebrate Lord Ram’s birth, very happy to welcome @Markjcarney on his first visit to @baps_toronto. A very happy Ram Navami!”

In particular, Carney’s visit to the temple comes just beyond the federal elections to be held on April 28.

Meanwhile, a non-profit organization working for the Hindu community in Canada, reacting to Carney of The Hindu Canadian Foundation, expressed concern about the challenges faced by the community and highlighted the “underprivision” of the Hindu.

The organization emphasized the influence of the moving Hindu spirit, especially due to separatist groups and the upcoming government to address these important issues.

In a post on X, it has been written, “There are important challenges for the Hindu community over the years, which are in more than one lakh numbers. Known to follow the rules and laws, Hindus basically assimilate in cultures that they move forward. One of the highest -grossing people, for a more successful life, maintains a low profile and often leading to political decisions.”

The Post said, “The recent bounce in the anti -Hindu spirit, fuel by growing separatist groups, has been deeply influenced by every Hindu Canadian. Addressing these pressure issues will be an important focus for the upcoming government.”
