Arun Jain, 05/04/2025

Vadodara, gujarat:

Police said on Friday that the accused in the Vadodara accident, a woman was left dead and seven others were injured last month, driving under the influence of drugs.

According to police, the primary report of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar – in which the blood sample of the accused was tested – revealed that he was not drunk at the time of the incident, but smoked Marjuana. Along with Chaurasia, his co-priest Premanshu Chauhan and another friend’s blood samples, which were in the car during the accident, have also conducted a positive test for drugs.

The medical report came about 20 days after the accident which sent shockwaves across the country.

The police have booked the three accused under the intoxicating drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and called Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 against Chaurasia, which makes a criminal offense to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

While Chauhan has been arrested, Chaurasia is currently recorded in Vadodara Central Jail. The third accused is on the run.

Police Deputy Commissioner, Panna Momaya said, “We got the result of three blood samples today, shown positive for drugs. They were driving the car after smoking Marijuana. We have arrested the co-passenger of Rakshit Chaurasia and the third accused will be arrested soon.”

On 13 March, the 23 -year -old law student Chaurasia crashed the Volkswagen Punya sedan, which he was driving in three vehicles, resulting in a woman, Hemali Patel. The camera was captured, a busy intersection in Vadodara, Amrapali in Karlibagh near four days.

A video of the accused’s disturbing response went viral in which the accused, wearing a black T-shirt, repeatedly shouted: “Another round, another round!” And “Om Naam Shivay!” (A religious mantra).

He was arrested a day later and accused of not being guilty of murder.

The accused, who was studying at Maharaja Sayajiro University in Baroda, first denied being drunk or intensified and blamed the accident for the car airbag.

“We were beating a scooter and got correct after hitting a pit. The car touched another vehicle, and the airbag was deployed, spoiled my vision and motivated the car to go out of control … I was told that a woman died and others were injured. I want to meet the families of the victims.
