The match-winner is ready for a Test comeback, having played his last game three years ago

Web Desk, 30/10/202430/10/2024

Afghanistan’s star match-winner Rashid Khan is now more than ready to make a comeback in this format after playing his last match in Test cricket three years ago. Afghanistan are scheduled to visit Zimbabwe in December 2024, starting with a three-match T20 series and then a three-match ODI series between the two teams. Finally, there will be two Test matches between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. Rashid Khan decided to stay away from Test cricket due to a back injury, which is why he was not included in the Afghanistan squad announced for the historic Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand.

Afghan Council official confirmed

Regarding Rashid Khan, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan confirmed in a statement to Cricbuzz that Rashid Khan is now fully ready to return to Test cricket. The announcement came shortly after the Afghanistan Cricket Association provided information on the full schedule of the Zimbabwe tour. The last Test match that Rashid Khan played was in 2021. When the squad for this year’s one-match Test series against New Zealand was announced for Afghanistan cricket, it was learned that Rashid Khan would not join the Test squad until November. In a statement about Rashid, Naseeb Khan said, “We are confident that Rashid Khan will be a part of the team for the upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe. He will take a long time to recover from surgery on his back injury and we hope he will only return to Test cricket after he has fully recovered.

Afghanistan will visit Zimbabwe from December 9 to January 6

Afghanistan will be on tour of Zimbabwe for about a month, with a three-match T20 series from December 9 to 12, followed by a three-match ODI series between the two teams from December 15 to 19. The first test will take place on December 26 (Boxing Day) and the second test will begin on January 2, 2025. Both matches of the Test series will be played at the Bulawayo Stadium.
