Pat Cummins: The only goal is to beat India
Pat Cummins said at his book launch that winning the Test series against India is the most important thing I want to add to my name. It’s especially important to do this back home. Like me, most Australian cricket fans expect us to perform well every time we play at home. India are the only team Australia has not beaten in the last 16 Test series. His team has failed to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since the 2014-15 season.
Australia lost twice to India at home
Pat Cummins said: ‘We have lost the last two series to them in Australia and this coming series is very important for us. Our team is in a really good spot right now and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why it can’t perform well. He said that no matter which team we play, we want to perform well but India is different so this season will be very important.
Ahead of this important series, India suffered defeats in their first two Test matches at home against New Zealand. Not only this, its star batsmen captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also struggling to score runs. Cummins said whenever a team is under pressure, it’s not a bad thing to fight it. But he has excelled here before. Our job is to try to keep them under pressure.
