Low-speed frequency band has wider coverage
However, only 16% of 5G users use the 700MHz band, which has greater coverage but slower speeds. And 84% of users use the 3.5Ghz band, which has higher speeds but smaller coverage.

As data demand continues to increase, service providers face challenges in managing spectrum resources. Airtel’s 5G download speed is better than Jio’s. The company offers fast speeds of 6.6%. Users get speeds of around 240Mbps on Airtel 5G. The average download speed obtained by Jio users is 224.8Mbps.
How long does the data come from?
Airtel users will also get better 5G upload speeds. Opensignal’s report collected 90 days of data from Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea and BSNL. The data is from June 1, 2024 to August 29, 2024. Vi and BSNL are yet to launch 5G services. Therefore, only Jio and Airtel are included in the report.

Airtel is repositioning its mid-band spectrum to manage the increased traffic. In addition, the company is also considering using 5G standalone technology to reduce its dependence on 4G. Jio is also expanding its SA 5G network.
