India and China reached a major agreement before the BRICS summit.
Ahead of the BRICS summit, India and China signed an important agreement. The two countries have reached an agreement to end the standoff along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. Under this, Depsang and Demchok will disengage. This means that the armies of both countries will return to their original positions. At the same time, patrols here will also begin.
Sources said Prime Minister Modi and the Chinese President are also likely to meet at the BRICS leaders’ summit. After this, its official details can be announced. The two countries have reached an agreement to end the standoff. But how to implement it now? Negotiations on this matter are ongoing. Here, a decision will be made on how to disengage and then start patrolling.
What’s going on?
In Depsang, Chinese soldiers sat down where many Indian soldiers had previously patrolled. Because of this, the Indian army’s patrol activities stopped there. In this regard, the Indian Army is also deployed in these places, causing the patrols of Chinese soldiers to be hindered in some locations.
In Demchok, on the other hand, China installed new tents where none existed before. China claims these are the tents of its herders. However, India said these were Chinese soldiers wearing civilian clothes. The tents have been installed in areas where there were no tents before April 2020.
Patrol point 14 disengaged.
In response to this situation, the Indian Army also set up tents there. In this way, China and India are face to face. Two years ago, there was a disengagement from the Pangog area (i.e. Finger area and Patrol Point 14 in Galwan). The soldiers then withdrew from Patrol Point 17 at Gogra. After that, start from PP-15 in the hot spring area. The buffer has just been created here. Neither Indian nor Chinese soldiers patrolled it. Negotiations on resuming patrolling at patrol points are also ongoing.
