Ghaziabad (UP):
A man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and killing a four-year-old girl, police said Sunday.
DCP (rural) Vivek Chand Yadav said Vishal (24) abducted the girl on Friday night while she was going to a nearby shop.
Police said he kidnapped the girl with the intention of raping her, but failed and threw the girl to the floor multiple times. The girl suffered deep head injuries and died on the spot.
Vishal was a drug addict and a neighbor of the victim, they said.
After killing the girl, he wrapped her body in a dirty quilt and threw it into a ramshackle house. He then went to a nearby tubewell to take a bath. He then hid the blood-stained clothes at home, police said.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs and took them to Vishal’s house, following which he was arrested on Saturday.
During interrogation, Vishal confessed to the crime, the DCP said.
