DWTS alum Cheryl Burke on Matthew Lawrence divorce: ‘You can’t buy love’

Earlier dancing with the stars Alum Cheryl Burke recently reflected on her marriage to Matthew Lawrence, revealing that becoming the “breadwinner” hurt their relationship.

Speaking on Thursday’s show iHeartRadio Amy and TJ Podcast, “I learned you can’t buy love,” she said.

The 39-year-old further explained: “I’m trying not to be obvious that I didn’t buy my ex-husband, but, I would definitely say I was the breadwinner.”

“Like, I support us, I don’t think it’s black and white.

“It’s like, it makes me feel good, but it doesn’t necessarily make our relationship good,” Burke added.

The professional dancer eventually filed for divorce in 2022 after three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” with ex-husband Lawrence.

“[It’s been] too difficult. It’s like a different kind of divorce, but an amicable one,” she concluded.
