Tokyo, Japan:
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck southwest Japan late Wednesday, but there were no tsunami warnings or reports of damage, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The USGS located the quake’s epicenter in the strait that separates the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) west of Uwajima and at a depth of about 25 kilometers.
