6-year-old boy falls into Borewell in Madhya Pradesh, rescue operation underway

The borehole is about 70 feet deep

Reva:

A rescue operation is underway after a six-year-old boy fell into a well in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Friday afternoon, officials said.

They said the incident took place around 3 pm in Manika village near the Uttar Pradesh border when the boy was playing near an open well.

Rewa Collector Pratibha Pal said a team from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) was sent to rescue the children who were trapped at a depth of about 40 feet.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Sonkar told PTI that oxygen is being supplied to the room through pipes and a CCTV camera has also been put down to monitor the boy’s condition, but the camera could not reach him due to some obstacles .

The well is about 70 feet deep and a parallel pit is being dug to rescue the child.

He said a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been mobilized from Varanasi and will reach the spot soon.

Mr Sankar added that unseasonal rains had also affected rescue operations.
