Bus carrying soldiers crashes in Madhya Pradesh, killing 3 and injuring 26

The accident took place near Dhanagadha village at around 1 am.

Three people were killed and 26 injured when a bus carrying Special Forces soldiers collided with a car and overturned in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh state early on Saturday, police said.

One of the soldiers was seriously injured and was flown to Nagpur in neighboring Maharashtra state, an official said.

The accident occurred around 1 am near Dhanagadha village on the Seoni-Mandla national highway, about 50 km from the district headquarters.

Keolari police station in-charge Chain Singh Uikey told PTI that a bus carrying personnel of the 35th Battalion of the state police SAF was traveling from Mandera to Pandhurna (Chhindwara) and a car carrying five passengers including the driver Collide.

He said that Kanhaiya Jaswani (75), Niklesh Jaswani (45) and the driver Purushottam Mahobia (37) inside the car died in the accident. The victims were residents of Mandera.

Two other injured passengers in the car are undergoing treatment at Keolali Government Hospital.

The people in the car had returned from Nagpur where they had completed some hospital-related work, the official said.

The bus carrying Singapore Armed Forces soldiers overturned after the accident. A total of 26 SAF soldiers were injured and taken to Keolari Hospital.

One of the seriously injured persons has been sent to Nagpur, he said, adding that investigation was on.
