Noida residents launch 'no registration, no vote' campaign to get ownership of flats

“No registration, no vote” posters appear in several residential areas

Noida:

As political parties launch campaigns for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, thousands of residents of Noida and adjoining Greater Noida have launched their own campaign, claiming that unless the local authorities secure the flats they bought with their own money Register or they won’t vote. Hard earned money.

The doors and walls of several apartment complexes were covered with posters reading “No registration, no vote.” Some posters also mentioned local BJP MP and former Union minister Dr Mahesh Sharma, seeking his intervention in the matter.

The residential areas where protests have intensified include Gardenia Glory in Noida’s Sector 46, Futec Gateway in Sector 75, and Himalayan Pride, Nirala Greens and Nirala Global in Greater Noida West.

Resident Abhishek Srivastava said he has been waiting for two years to register his apartment in one of the towers of the apartment complex where he lives. “We’re tired of hanging around builders’ offices,” he said.

Rakesh Ruhela, an elderly resident, said builders and local development authorities were not helping them. “We urge the government to ensure our registration and give us ownership of our apartments,” he said.

The protests achieved some results. It is learned that the builders of Nirala Greens have now paid 25% of their dues to the authority, but the residents’ fight is far from over.

A protesting resident of Gardenia Glory said: “Everyone is defending the builder. No one is supporting us. We live here as unauthorized residents.”

Residents claim they are still waiting for ownership despite getting their apartments a decade ago. They said they paid in full years ago.

Local development officials declined to comment.
