New Delhi:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj today said the party suspects police will arrest Arvind Kejriwal after the police went to the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence for questioning in the liquor policy case.

AAP leaders and Delhi Minister Atishi also strongly condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) move. Sources in the central investigation agency said Mr Kejriwal is likely to be arrested tonight.

Atish told reporters: “The people of Delhi consider Arvind Kejriwal as their brother. The AAP government has done a lot for them. The people of Delhi stand with him and will not remain silent.”

Bharadwaj said the police did not allow anyone to enter Kejriwal’s residence. “…It seems they are planning to arrest Arvind Kejriwal,” Mr Bharadwaj told reporters.

Mr Kejriwal today skipped a summons from the education ministry for the ninth time in the Delhi liquor policy case.

Hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant arrest protection to Kejriwal, the ED rushed to his house. However, the court ordered the ED to file a reply to Mr Kejriwal’s fresh petition and postponed the matter to April 22.

Mr Bharadwaj said the ED’s move to raid Mr Kejriwal’s house was illegal as the High Court had asked the ED to respond to a fresh petition.

“How could the ED enter Arvind Kejriwal’s home or arrest him before even filing a reply to the High Court?” Mr Bharadwaj said.

Delhi Chief Minister has moved the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing.
