New Delhi:
A 20-year-old Indian student has been found dead in the United States and his family claims he was murdered.
Abhijeeth Paruchuru, a resident of Bripalam in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, is an engineering student at Boston University while his parents Paruchuri Cha Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi Boruna live in Connecticut.
According to his family, he was murdered by unknown persons on the university campus on March 11 and his body was left in a car in the forest.
After his friends complained, officials identified his body based on his cell phone signal.
However, the Indian Consulate General in New York said preliminary investigations have ruled out anything suspicious.
“Paruchuru’s parents are in direct contact with detectives. Preliminary investigations rule out foul play,” the consulate posted on X.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Indian student Abhijit Paruchuru in Boston,” the statement said.
The consulate also said it “provided assistance with documentation and transportation of his remains to India” and was in contact with local authorities as well as the Indian-American community on the matter.
