McDonald's faces system glitch in Asia, customers unable to place orders

India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are unaffected.

Hungry McDonald’s customers in parts of Asia faced difficulties ordering food in stores, on mobile phones and at electronic kiosks on Friday due to a system outage.

In Japan, the U.S. fast-food giant said on

China was also affected for several hours, with the outage becoming a trending topic on social media platform Weibo, but the company later said its online ordering system had been fully restored.

McDonald’s Hong Kong wrote on Facebook that its “mobile ordering and self-order kiosks are not operational” but later said its systems were “gradually returning to normal”.

In South Korea, an error message appeared on McDonald’s delivery website that read: “Service has been temporarily suspended due to scheduled server maintenance for website stability.”

Singapore, Australia and New Zealand were also hit, according to media reports.

India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are unaffected.
