Joey Merlino acting career

Joey Merlino, known as the kingpin of Philadelphia’s family of outlaws, must deal with penalties related to cocaine embezzlement, coercion and illegal gambling.

In 1982, when Merlino was 20, a brutal incident occurred at Atlantic City’s Lido restaurant, prompting his 1984 convictions for nuisance assault and weapons possession. Just like that, he was banned from gambling clubs in New Jersey. While in prison in 1990, Merlino collaborated with mobster Ralph Natale in a plot to take over a Philadelphia crime family.

In 1993, crowd clashes intensified with shootings and attacks, culminating in Merlino’s arrest in November of that year on charges of abuse of direct banishment. After the detention of the family leader, John Stanfa, Merlino prevailed in a mass struggle and Ralph Natale was appointed as the new leader.

Merlino’s involvement involves affiliates of the Agnostic MC Bicycle Club and the Little Dark Mafia. He officially took over the outlaw family in 1999 and was later sentenced to 14 years in prison, freed in 2011 and experiencing the legal difficulties that resulted.
