Shetland pony rescued after getting stuck in cattle pen in Powys

A Shetland pony has been rescued after becoming trapped in a cattle pen in Powys.

Midwest Wales The fire and rescue service said the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Local fire and rescue crews from Creekhowell, Puntada Way and Targas responded with help from Abbey Vets.

Teifi’s owner, Beth Watkins, posted on Facebook that he was trapped in a cattle pen after a walker “decided to open the farm gate”.

Ms Watkins said he was released after a “four-hour struggle”.

“He received enough sedation to overwhelm an elephant and endured cutting equipment for hours,” she added.

Teffy’s injuries were said to be “superficial and will heal.”

His owners have called on walkers to close the doors behind them as they walk through private property.

Ms Watkins added: “As you can see the support we have received today has been incredible and we cannot tell you how grateful we are but this is the fire brigade and the time they spent with us was probably It’s needed elsewhere.”
