Beijing China:

China said on Monday it hoped that whoever wins the November presidential election will improve relations with the United States.

Beijing and Washington have clashed in recent years over hot-button issues such as technology, trade, human rights, Taiwan and sovereignty disputes in the South China Sea.

Americans will go to the polls this November in an election that could pit former leader Donald Trump against current President Joe Biden for the keys to the White House.

“You mentioned the U.S. presidential election, which is an internal matter of the United States,” Lou Qinjian, spokesman for the National People’s Congress, said at a press conference in response to a question about the vote.

“No matter who is elected president, we hope that the United States can meet China halfway and jointly promote stable, healthy, and sustainable Sino-U.S. relations.”

The stability and improvement of Sino-US relations is what everyone pays close attention to and looks forward to. China’s position is consistent.
