Who is Sunetra Pawar?
Born in October 1963 in Dharashiv district, Sunetra Pawar grew up in a political background. His father, Bajirao Patil, was a respected regional leader, while his brother, Padmasingh Bajirao Patil, was a well-known figure in district politics during the 1980s.
He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from SB College, Aurangabad, which laid the foundation for his later work in managing institutions and large-scale projects, including the Baramati Hi-Tech Textile Park.
Role in Business Enterprises
Sunetra was a key figure in the Baramati Hi-Tech Textile Park, where she took decisions regarding production planning, investment, employment generation and women empowerment.
The park provides employment to more than 15,000 women, most of whom come from rural areas. She was honored at the ‘Icons of Pune’ Awards for her efforts in women empowerment. This park was also visited by the then President Pratibha Patil.

Sunetra Pawar is a trustee of Vidya Pratisthan, one of the leading educational groups in Maharashtra. In this role, she oversees academic quality, administrative systems, and institutional planning for more than 25,000 students.

In 2010, Sunetra started the Environmental Forum of India (EFOI), a non-governmental organization focused on promoting organic farming and environmental protection. Under his leadership, EFOI introduced the concept of eco-village model in India.
One of his most notable projects is converting Katewadi village into India’s first ‘Eco Village’. The idea was to encourage villages to save water, use renewable energy, manage waste properly and protect natural resources while supporting local livelihoods.
She is also the trustee and advisor of an old age home, which is located on the outskirts of Baramati.
