Although Jones’ doctor told him he would return to work on Monday after surgery, his eye was “too swollen.”

“They didn’t connect me to being on TV,” he quipped. “There’s some swelling. My eyes aren’t fully open yet. But I’m recovering quickly. Very quickly. I hope to be back soon.”

Jones further explained his condition, noting that a detached retina meant he was “slowly losing his sight.” However, the “tears were so small” that they went undetected for years.

“But I had fluid around my eye, which led the doctor to say, ‘I can drain the fluid, but there’s something deeper,'” he recalled. “So, on the bright side, my vision has gotten better and better since they had to reattach my retina.”

He finally spoke about his recovery process, stressing that he hopes to return to competition fox and friends soon. However, he could not give a timetable for his return.

“I don’t want to give anyone any dates or anything because if something goes wrong, I don’t want to let anyone down,” he added. “But I’m ready to come back, but now we need my eyes to work with me so I can come back.”

The broadcaster has been working for Fox since 2018 and has been a staple of Fox News. morning show since he joined as permanent co-host in September 2023. At 30, he became the youngest black co-anchor on cable news.

He currently hosts the show with Brian Kilmeade Ainsley Earhart 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
