A private plane with eight people on board crashes while trying to take off from Bangor International Airport maine Sunday night.

Audio obtained from LiveATC.net records an exchange between controllers and pilots discussing poor visibility and the need for de-icing, although it is unclear which aircraft were involved in these conversations.

A controller authorized the pilot to take off from Runway 33. Less than two minutes later, an emergency message came on the same frequency: “All traffic in the venue has stopped!”

Shortly after, another controller reported the seriousness of the situation, saying: “The aircraft is upside down. We have a passenger aircraft that is upside down.”

The airport has reportedly been closed to all flights after emergency vehicles were allowed access CNN. In a subsequent message, a controller said officials were aware there were “three crew members and possibly five passengers” on the plane.

The Bombardier Challenger 600 is a wide-body business jet commonly used for private and charter flights and is typically configured to carry 9 to 11 passengers.
