Like the Talgo Series 8, Airo will offer in-seat power, Wi-Fi, panoramic windows and an onboard café.
Another similarity is the top speed – the Airo is capable of 125 mph, while the Talgo Series 8 is designed to reach 124 mph. However, due to track constraints and freight traffic, the Cascades’ top operating speed is 79 mph.

Amtrak described Airo as “part of our bold transformation of passenger rail,” while Ron Pate, director of rail, freight and ports at the Washington State Department of Transportation, said: “Amtrak Cascades is eager to welcome the new trains to our route connecting 18 scenic cities in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
“Their arrival will herald the arrival of a new generation of train travel in the Pacific Northwest.”
A total of 83 new Airo trains will be launched in the United States, starting with Amtrak Cascade Followed by key routes such as the Northeast region.


Airo’s launch comes on the heels of Amtrak’s launch of 160 mph incline trains that train On the northeast corridor.
