Hollywood musician announced as cruise ship's first seagoing composer

Once the score is complete, it will be performed and recorded by a 60-piece orchestra at Abbey Road, London, before being released on Spotify.

Squires said: “I’ve created hundreds of compositions, but having the opportunity to create the musical narrative of an entire journey through a score was a completely unique challenge.

“There are so many sights, sounds and feelings on the Fred Olsen cruise that I can’t wait to experience and start translating them into music.

“This is an extraordinary undertaking and I’m looking forward to getting involved – I know there will be many moments of inspiration, and it will all culminate in a timeless score, recorded at the incomparable Abbey Road Studios, that people can look back on time and time again.”

Research by the cruise line shows that three quarters of Britons associate specific songs with past holidays. About 86% of respondents said music was important to their experience.
