Trump, a billionaire, assembled the richest cabinet in U.S. history during his second term. According to Forbes, their combined net worth last year was $7.5 billion.

“The growth in billionaire wealth last year was unprecedented,” said Amitabh Behar, executive director of Oxfam International. “The super-rich have been given complete freedom. It is incomprehensible that the richest 1% now own three times the world’s total public wealth.”

“This is a stark indictment of how absurd the gulf between oligarchs and everyone else now is. Governments must now tax the super-rich and prioritize reducing inequality. The world cannot continue on this sordid trajectory.”

Davos attendees – it’s time we win together.

Fifty-five years ago, when the World Economic Forum first convened, humanity was at the dawn of remarkable progress. Over the past fifty years, we have made giant leaps in technology, medicine, communications and global trade, creating huge potential opportunities for humanity.

Today, we are more connected than ever, but at the same time, we have never been more divided. Decades of innovation go hand in hand with decades of inequality, environmental destruction and wasted opportunity. The richest 1% now own over 95% of the world’s population.

The gap between the super-rich and everyone else is widening, spanning communities, countries and, perhaps most importantly, generations. A handful of global oligarchs with vast wealth have bought our democracies; taken over our governments; restricted the freedom of our media; suppressed technology and innovation; increased poverty and social exclusion; and hastened the collapse of our planet. What we hold dear, rich and poor alike, is being eroded by those bent on widening the gulf between their immense power and everyone else.

We all know this. When even millionaires like us realize that extreme wealth has cost everyone else, there is no doubt that society is teetering dangerously.

We are exhausted watching this happen. We want democracy restored. We want our community back. We want our future back.

In 2026, we must do more than just hope for the future we want. We must win.

You’ve got a simple yet effective solution that’s backed by millionaires and the public alike. Stop wasting our time – tax the super rich.

As millionaires who stand side by side with everyone, we demand this. As our elected representatives – whether in Davos, local councillors, mayors or regional leaders – you have a responsibility to make this happen. So tax us. Tax the super rich.

We can take back power from those who seize it; take back our democracy from those who abuse it; and take back health, education and safe homes from those who have bottomed out our infrastructure and public services. We can win back our collective wealth.

Extreme wealth leads to extreme control over those who gamble with our secure future for ill-gotten gains. Now is the time to end this control and win back our future.

Millionaires like us refuse to remain silent. It’s time to settle accounts. Tax us to ensure the next fifty years deliver on the promise of progress for everyone.
