A body was found two weeks later A 15-year-old girl was swept into the sea.
Humberside Police said the body had not yet been recovered from the rocks and had yet to be formally identified due to the harsh conditions in Withernsea, East Yorks.
The discovery came after 15-year-old Grace Keeling was swept into the water on January 2 and an extensive search was carried out over the past two weeks to find her.

Emergency services were unable to safely recover due to high tides but used specialist equipment to secure the location. Police worked throughout Friday to recover the body but were hampered by the timing, conditions and location of the tide.
The recovery task has been paused until it is safe to continue.
Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers said: “A body was discovered by Humberside Police search advisers at around 8.30am but due to tidal times and conditions, despite all efforts, it was not possible to search safely before high tide. The site was secured overnight using specialist equipment and a cordon remained in place around the area.
“Today (Friday 16 January 2026), officers and a team of experts have been working hard to explore all possible options in the very complex circumstances to skillfully recover the body. However, due to tidal times, conditions and location, the recovery cannot be carried out immediately and has therefore been suspended until it is safe to resume.
“While formal identification has not yet taken place, we recognize that this discovery was made after 15-year-old Grace Keeling was swept into the water on Friday 2 January 2026 and an extensive search was conducted over the past 13 days to locate her.
“I’m pleased that this update will raise public concerns, but I want to reassure everyone that we have a dedicated team of experts who are doing everything they can to recover as safely and as quickly as possible.
“Specialist officers have been in contact with Grace’s family to make them aware of the discovery and we ask people not to speculate and to consider and respect their privacy. We are also asking the public to avoid the area so emergency services can work safely
“We will provide further updates as soon as possible.”
