Mark Carney meets Xi Jinping in Beijing for historic China-Canada trade talks

canadian prime minister Mark Carney is on a four-day visit to China to promote deeper trade ties.

During his visit, Mr Carney met with the Chinese President Xi Jinpingproposed a “new strategic partnership” between the two countries.

Carney said the partnership could produce “historic results” in areas such as agriculture, energy and finance.

Xi Jinping expressed pleasure at the current cooperation and said that stable China-Canada relations are conducive to world peace and prosperity.

This is the first visit to China by a Canadian leader in the past decade, and Canada is committed to diversifying international relations.
