Machado’s victory in October reportedly sparked resentment against Trump, who has long expressed interest in winning the award and sometimes linked it to diplomatic achievements, even though she has been an enthusiastic supporter and dedicated her victory to him.
Trump said earlier this month that receiving the award “would be a great honor.”
“Well, I know she’ll be here sometime next week and I look forward to saying hi to her, which I hear she wants to do. That would be a huge honor,” he told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

However, the president has previously said that Machado does not have the support to win an election if it were held in Venezuela.
