A missing 11-year-old boy was rescued by police from a registered sex offender during a traffic stop. Florida New Year’s Eve.

Flagler County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a call and saw Darnell Hairston sitting in his truck with two teenagers sitting in the back. The caller knew the 60-year-old’s registration status.

Video shows officers stopping Hairston’s Ford F-150, where they found the teen and a 15-year-old boy.

After the 11-year-old was placed in the patrol car, Hairston tried to flee on foot but was quickly restrained by officers. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old tried to escape in Hairston’s truck, nearly hitting a police officer in the process.

A police pursuit led to a crash and the arrest of the 15-year-old.

The 15-year-old, who authorities believe may be a co-conspirator, faces a slew of charges, including assaulting a police officer.

Hairston faces additional kidnapping charges as well as pre-existing charges and is being held without bail.
