In announcing the arrest, OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee called Cole’s home “unsafe” for Davis, also known as RJ and Lake.

“It’s very sad. It’s been a terrible case so far for everyone involved,” McKee added.

Last week, a $5,000 reward was offered to anyone who could “confirm RJ’s location and make his safe return.”

“We are still receiving some tips that we are still following up on, but the boy has not been found. We do believe he is still alive at this time, so we are doing everything we can to find him,” McKee told the media last week while discussing the case, where a multi-agency search operation is underway involving drones, dogs and water searches.

“Things have reached frightening proportions. Time is of the essence. We have to find this child.”

The spokesman also said Davis had run away in the past, but he did not elaborate. He asked anyone in the Chickasha area who has surveillance cameras to check the footage for any sign of the missing children.

“All we want to do is focus on this child, get him the medical care he needs and reassure him, either physically or emotionally, that he will not go back to that environment,” Chickasha Chief Gobert Music said in the same news conference.

Music said that under no circumstances would Davis return to his parents.

Before her arrest, Kimberly Cole publicly thanked those searching for her son in an interview with ABC’s Oklahoma City affiliate grow up.

“We just want our son back home, we want him back,” she said.

Davis was last missing on December 17, according to Kimberly Cole’s Facebook page. It’s unclear when he was discovered.
