Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry on December 21 special envoy Greenland, renewing criticism from Denmark and Greenland over Washington’s interest in the mineral-rich Arctic island.

Trump advocates making Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, part of the United States. Landry publicly supports the idea.
