Police described the man as white, about five feet seven inches tall. The woman is described as a white female with long black hair and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, khaki sweatpants and black sandals.

As of Thursday, no missing persons report matching the woman’s description had been filed, police said, further complicating the investigation.

Brian Sanz, 27, the son of the Lake Condominiums building manager, told CNN cbs miami news He had never met the people in the photos.

“I don’t recognize the people in the surveillance photos,” Sanz said. “I can say I’ve never seen them before and I’m not sure, but I do think they used to live in this building.”

“I’m a little surprised by what happened,” he added. “Nothing like this has ever happened here. This is a cold community. We haven’t even had any break-ins.”

A resident of Lake Apartments also spoke to the news outlet and recalled hearing screams that morning.

“I heard noises and screams. I heard two or three screams, I didn’t come out of the house but you could hear the screams,” the woman said. “I heard her say ‘no.'” The place had been quiet for years, not the kind of place where something like this happened. I’m scared. I couldn’t go back to sleep. “

CBS Miami News reported that another resident, the woman’s partner, said the incident was deeply disturbing.

“These are not things we see often in this community,” he said. “Someone should be held accountable.”

Police called the case a “suspicious incident” and said their primary concern was the woman’s safety.

“Our primary concern is the immediate well-being of the woman involved,” police said in a statement. “Our detectives are working to locate her as quickly as possible to verify her safety.”
