Zelensky says Ukraine is ’10 percent away’ from peace deal
Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine is “10 per cent” away from a deal to end its war with Russia, but warned it is the last remaining issues that matter.
In a New Year’s Eve speech, Zelensky said his country wanted an end to the war but not “at any cost” and that any deal would require strong security guarantees to prevent another Russian invasion.
“The peace agreement is 90% complete. There is still 10% left. This is much more than just numbers,” Zelensky said in a speech posted on his Telegram account.

Editorial: Zelensky could buy Europe for 15 years
President Zelensky, who will gain more diplomatic goodwill from the White House by signing a deal — any deal — than he loses on Ukraine’s security, should accept U.S. assurances — and urge his more loyal allies in Europe to assume the role of real guarantors of Ukraine’s borders.

Kiev calls ‘evidence’ of Russian attack on Putin’s home laughable
A Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman said video footage provided by Russia as evidence of an alleged Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s home earlier this week was laughable.
The Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday released what it said was video footage of a downed drone.
In the photo, a Russian serviceman stands next to fragments of a device said to be a downed Ukrainian Chaklun-V drone carrying an undetonated 6 kilogram explosive device.
The ministry did not explain how it knew what the device was targeting.
Heorhii Tykhyi of Kyiv’s foreign ministry told Reuters: “It’s ridiculous – the fact that it took them two days to produce this and the fact that they tried to bring it out as evidence basically shows that they didn’t even seriously make up the story.”
“We are absolutely confident that no such attack occurred.”
