Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday targeted the BJP-led NDA government, alleging that the shadow of the party’s loot, corruption and misgovernance will continue to haunt the people of the country even in 2025.

In a publish on

Kharge said, “(Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) ‘right to work’ was taken away from lakhs of poor people. Without any preparation, without BLO (booth level officer) training, ‘right to vote’ was taken away from lakhs of people through SIR (Special Intensive Review) and BJP’s vote theft was caught red handed.”

He alleged that the economic inequality gap has deepened, with the top 1% owning 40% of India’s wealth.

He said, “The rupee is falling towards the abyss, RBI sold 32 billion dollars (Rs 2.8 lakh crore) in US dollars, still it did not make any difference. Unemployment among the youth is at its peak, the game of paper leak mafia continues unabated.”

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, he said, ‘Modi’s friend ‘Namaste Trump’ imposed the world’s highest tariff on our country.’ Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, and in an apparent reference to Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah’s remarks on Colonel Sophia Qureshi holding regular media briefings in connection with Operation Sindoor, Kharge said, “Our powerful army responded appropriately but BJP ministers made shameful remarks about our colonel.” He also said that President Trump has claimed “mediation” at least 60 times, and now China is also talking about “mediation” while Prime Minister Modi is silent.

Kharge criticized the “failure” of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Manipur and said, “President’s rule was imposed only to hide it.” The Congress president said there has been no relief from inflation and the cut in GST has proved to be just a manipulation of figures.

He said that atrocities against Dalits, tribal population, backward classes and minorities had increased to such an extent that even the Chief Justice of India (CJI) was not spared.

Kharge was referring to the attempt made by a lawyer Rakesh Kishore on the then CJI BR Gavai.

He mentioned Delhi’s air pollution, alleged a “conspiracy” to hand over Aravali to the mining mafia and “attacks” on Nicobar, Hasdeo and Mumbai mangroves.

He said, “Be it the stampede at Kumbh or the chaos at Delhi station, innocent people lost their lives due to cough syrup, yet no one took responsibility.”

He said, “Overall, even in 2025, the people of the country will be under the shadow of BJP’s loot, corruption and misgovernance.”
