BJP leader K Annamalai on Wednesday, December 31 expressed concern over the safety of migrant workers in Tamil Nadu, calling it a result of “politics of division” under the ruling DMK government.

He took to the social media platform X to cite two specific cases of violence.

Annamalai wrote that Suraj, a migrant worker from West Bengal, was brutally murdered in Coimbatore after he protested against being hit by a vehicle. In a separate incident, he said two migrant workers from Odisha – Monish Seran and Sushant Kohori – were allegedly attacked by a gang under the influence of ganja at Thirubuvanam in Sivagangai district.

Annamalai demanded accountability from the state government, saying, “Tamil Nadu cannot afford this moral and administrative degradation.”

He wrote, “In recent times, such incidents have time and again exposed the dangerous consequences of the DMK’s politics of division. When hatred is normalized, and identity is weaponized for political gain, violence inevitably follows.”

The wounds of the brutal attack on Suraj have yet to heal, and before the state’s conscience could heal, Tiruttani yesterday witnessed another act of senseless violence. Jamal, a local businessman, was attacked by a group without any provocation or reason.

Annamalai is not the first leader to highlight the poor law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. leader of Opposition party AIADMK He has also accused Chief Minister MK Stalin and his government of allowing anarchy to spread.
