Hyundai said the Creta has been the best-selling SUV in India on a cumulative basis over the past five years and continues to lead the mid-size SUV segment even a decade after its launch in July 2015.
The company said the model’s customer base has grown steadily, achieving a compound annual growth rate of more than 9% between 2016 and 2025.
Hyundai reported that CRETA has a market share of over 34% in the mid-size SUV category. This year the brand also completed 10 years in India.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “Hyundai Creta’s journey in India has been nothing short of extraordinary and achieving the highest annual sales of over 2 lakh units is a proud and defining moment for all of us at Hyundai. It is also our country’s best-selling SUV on a cumulative basis from 2020-2025.”
He said the number of first-time buyers has increased from 13% in 2020 to 32% in 2025, sunroof-equipped variants account for more than 70% of sales, and diesel powertrains contribute 44%.
Hyundai said the Creta has been the best-selling mid-size SUV every year since its launch.
It is sold with multiple powertrain and transmission options, including a 1.5-litre MPI petrol engine (manual and IVT), a 1.5-litre CRDI diesel engine (manual and automatic), a 1.5-litre turbo GDI petrol engine (manual and DCT), as well as an electric variant.
