New data reveals Wildfires breaking out across Englanddata comes from fire department data for the spring and summer months of 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Statistics, by press association Covers incidents classified as “grassland, woodland and crop” fires under a Freedom of Information request.

While 35 of England’s 43 mainland fire services provided comprehensive monthly data, eight either provided incomplete information, declined to respond or did not provide any data.

This category covers fires occurring in any of the following subcategories: canal/riparian vegetation; grassland, pasture, grazing; moorland or marshland; hedges; railway track vegetation; roadside vegetation; scrubland; stacked/baled crops; standing crops; straw/stubble burning; scrub (including individual trees not in gardens); woodland/forest – broadleaf/hardwood; and woodland/forest – conifer/softwood.

Where spring numbers are marked with an asterisk

This is the highest value for the three-month period compared with FoI data for 2022-2025 and equivalent public data released by the Department of Housing, Communities and Local Government for 2011-2021.
