Justin Hood defeated Josh Rock 4-0 PDC World Darts Championship The last 16 matches were played at Alexandra Palace.

The 32-year-old debutant hit a record 11 consecutive doubles, only to concede his first double while leading 2-0 in the fourth set.

He quickly recovered and sealed the victory with a score of 119 in the next round.

This guarantees Hood a career-high salary of at least £100,000, bringing his dream of leaving a Chinese restaurant one step closer.

Hood, who is playing his first season on the PDC Tour, said in an on-stage interview: “This is not a fairy tale – I know what I can do and I’m excited to be out there and prove it.

“The only time I was a little nervous was when I was throwing the leg before (the last time). I’m not used to that. I usually get hate messages. It’s crazy.”

Hood won the first set with an 11-dart break to set the tone for the match, leaving 11th-seeded Locke to watch in amazement as he surged to victory with a 101 average and 10 180s.

Jonny Clayton confirmed his rise to fourth in the world rankings by defeating Sweden’s Andreas Harrysson in the round of 16.

Harrison failed to capitalize on his chance after leading 2-1 and paid the price by missing four darts when re-establishing a set lead at 3-2.

Clayton said: “I have a lot of things on my mind, and being ranked No. 4 in the world is one of them.

“Every time I looked up, Andreas was playing doubles. It was tough, I didn’t play my best and there were a lot of loose darts, but that’s what pressure does to you.”

Krzysztof Ratajski also advanced to the quarter-finals, defeating Luke Woodhouse 4-2.
