Announcing the first-class seats, former Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said the move would help transform the airline into “the best value airline.”

“We’ve heard from our customers that they want more and better options, such as first-class seats, available seat upgrades, more free travel for companions, and the ability to use miles to purchase services beyond just airfare,” he said.

“These changes represent an exciting new chapter in our transformation into new areas.”

Biffle has been succeeded by former company president James G. Dempsey, who has been named interim CEO.

“Jimmy has been a valuable member of Frontier’s senior leadership team for more than a decade and has played an important role in the company’s development and growth,” said Chairman of the Board Bill Franke. “We believe Jimmy is uniquely qualified to guide our airline into the future.”

Franke continued, “The Board deeply appreciates Barry’s leadership and dedication to Frontier over the past 11 years. We are grateful for his many contributions during his tenure.”
