Cary Elwes, who starred in Rob Reiner’s films princess bridea tribute to the beloved director.
The 63-year-old actor played farmhand Westley in the 1987 fantasy classic alongside Robin Wright and Billy Crystal.
He wrote on Instagram on Monday (December 29) in memory of Renner and his wife, filmmaker Michelle Singer, was found dead in his home earlier this month.
“Time has passed and I can finally put into words my sadness,” Elvis wrote. “I was 24 when I first met Rob Reiner princess bride. I fell in love with him from the first time we met.
“I was already a fan of his work, so meeting him in person was like a dream come true. As we started spending more time together, I knew this was the man I wanted in my life.”
He said his first impression of the director was that he was “wholehearted” and “always trying to find the best in people”. Elwes wrote that Renner “loved making movies,” but more importantly, he loved “the experience itself” of creating them.
“He used to say, ‘Once a movie comes out, it belongs to other people. But when you make it, that’s your time on earth, so you want to get it right,'” Elwes recalled. “Oh my gosh, the time I spent with him. princess bride Beyond greatness. I can’t remember a day without laughter.
“This movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob holds dear. It’s one of the many reasons why he was the perfect choice to direct this movie.”
Elwes went on to praise Singer as a “gifted photographer” and “a very caring, intelligent person” who was “passionate about her family and loved helping others.”

He concluded his statement by writing: “Because my heart still aches every time I think of you, and I know the sadness of losing you too early may never go away. Of course, death can’t stop true love, but life without you is painful.”

On December 14, Reiner and Singer were found dead in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Their cause of death was “multiple sharp force injuries,” according to Los Angeles County medical examiner records.
Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. he is Charged with two counts of murder in parents’ deaths.
Reiner met his wife on the set of the iconic 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally. He said falling in love with Singer inspired him to change the film’s originally unhappy ending to a romantic ending.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, Reiner has worked behind the scenes on beloved films including This is a spinal tap (1984), stand beside me (1986), suffering (1990), and some good men (1992).
