Guardiola cheered Manchester CityA new energy that clears the “fog” of last season and returns them to the title race was conceived at last summer’s Club World Cup.

The city is working with arsenal and aston villa at the top Premier League They have won six games in a row 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side endured a torrid campaign by their standards last season, with a fourth successive title coming to a disappointing end.

But the Spaniard said the summer tournament, which saw them eliminated by Al Hilal in the last 16, was key to change.

“Energy, energy, energy,” he said. “We lost last season. We started training better and playing better.

“Then we can talk about a back three, a back four, wingers or full-backs – it’s all bullshit. We need energy and then you have a good environment. When we go to Al Hilal, it’s not that we didn’t win, it’s that we performed well there.”

“It was a holiday so I said, ‘Okay, go on holiday’, but I’m happy because we performed well there, the players trained well and played well.

“Where we were was in Boca Raton on the beach. Everybody was happy. Made a lot of dinners, had a lot of conversations about what we were going to do next season. We wanted to extend it and just live.”

“I think after talking to Pep (Lijnders), James (France), Maneel (Estiat), Hugo (Viana), Txiki (Begiristain) we turned around and said something has changed. Something (you can feel it).

“It doesn’t mean you’re going to win, but you’re able to recognize the team. It’s eight wins in a row right now. It’s not easy, but competing the way we do. We definitely have to improve, but this mentality is better.”

Guardiola, whose long-term future still hangs in the balance, admits he’s also rejuvenated.

“It’s not about you or you or you, it’s about… that thing in the fog in Manchester, surrounding our training centre. We missed something,” he said.

“It’s not about turning (the energy) on or off. The results help. The methodology. Also Pep Lijnders, James (France), Kolo Toure.

“New players, I want to help them. When you have the same players, you think, ‘Ah, tired’. But new players you think, ‘Ah, how is this guy?’ and try to analyze. The energy comes from there.

“Energy can go down, but energy can go up. It’s never the same in our lives. Professionally and personally, you’re never happy all the time, but you’re never sad all the time. You have to realize why, realize what we’re missing out on, and then be able to come back.”
