In a post on X, Reliance said, “Remembering Dhirubhai Ambani, a visionary who believed in the power of dreams and the strength of enterprise,” underscoring his lasting impact on the corporate journey of the group and the country.
Dhirubhai Ambani, who founded Reliance in 1966, is credited with building one of India’s largest and most diverse conglomerates from modest beginnings. His emphasis on scale, risk taking and retail investor participation fundamentally reshaped Indian capital markets and democratized equity ownership.
Under his leadership, Reliance expanded from the textile industry to petrochemicals, refining and energy, laying the foundation for what it would later become a global business empire. Dhirubhai Ambani’s vision of integration and self-reliance played an important role in establishing Reliance as the cornerstone of India’s industrial development.
Tributes on his birth anniversary were shared on social media, reflecting the enduring resonance of his legacy as a business pioneer who believed that India’s growth story should include its smallest investors.
Tributes were also paid by senior Reliance executive Parimal Nathwani, who said Dhirubhai Ambani was a unique institution whose faith in India’s potential and belief that “no one has a monopoly on ideas” transformed Indian enterprise.
Nathwani said Dhirubhai’s leadership mantra of “Think Big, Think Fast, Think Forward” redefined scale and efficiency in Indian industry and continues to guide Reliance’s values of innovation, teamwork and customer trust.
Even decades after his demise, Dhirubhai Ambani’s entrepreneurial philosophy continues to guide the group’s growth under the leadership of Mukesh Ambani, with Reliance now spanning energy, telecom, retail and digital services.
