The weather office issued a yellow alert for dense fog in other parts of the country including Odisha, Uttarakhand and north eastern states.
Dense fog forecast in UP, Bihar
Dense to very dense fog conditions are likely over isolated parts of Assam till December 28 and over Himachal Pradesh during night/morning hours till December 31.
IMD has predicted dense fog over isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh till December 30, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha till December 31, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till December 29 and Uttarakhand till December 31.

Dense to very dense fog is likely over parts of Bihar till December 29, followed by isolated dense fog for four days, and dense fog over parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh till December 30, followed by isolated dense fog for two days. Dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail in some/many parts of Uttar Pradesh till January 1, 2026.

Yellow alert for Delhi
The weather office has issued a yellow alert of moderate to dense fog in the national capital for two days, predicting moderate to dense fog in the morning hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Delhi’s air quality has deteriorated, returning to the ‘very poor’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching above 300 in many areas.

The AQI (air quality index) around the area is 270, which is classified as ‘poor’, as claimed by the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board).

Cold wave in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh
Cold wave conditions are likely in isolated parts of North Rajasthan on December 28 and Jharkhand on December 28 and 29. Cold to severe cold conditions are likely at some places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on December 27.
Meanwhile, cold day conditions are also expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on December 27, Bihar from December 27 to 31, Uttarakhand from December 26 to 29, West Uttar Pradesh on December 27 and East Uttar Pradesh on December 29.
Delhi’s air quality has deteriorated and has returned to the ‘very poor’ category with the air quality index (AQI) exceeding 300 in many areas.

Chance of rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is expected over many northern areas, especially Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on December 27 and again from December 29 to January 1.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to see similar isolated light/moderate rainfall/snow conditions on December 27, 30 and 31.
In the south, isolated thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the period from December 27 to December 30.
