Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s great grandson Chandra Kumar Bose has written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu requesting to bring back Netaji’s remains from Japan to India. The mortal remains of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose have been preserved at the Renkoji Temple in Tokyo since 1945.

In the letter dated December 24, he highlighted the importance of honoring Netaji’s legacy, especially as Singapore celebrates 80 years of the establishment of the Provisional Government of Azad Hind.

“I am writing to you as a member of the family of Sarat Chandra Bose and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose A

And I want to put forward a proposal before you to carry forward his legacy for the present and future generations of India. As you may be aware, on 21 October 2025, we celebrated eight decades of the establishment of the Provisional Government of Azad Hind by Netaji in Singapore,” Bose, who is the convener of The Open Platform for Netaji and a socio-political commentator, wrote.

He referred to the planning of an Indian National Army (INA) memorial in Delhi and appealed for NetajiHis remains are yet to be brought back to India, echoing requests from INA veterans and Netaji’s daughter, Anita Bose-Pfaff.

He said, “I understand that there are plans to set up an Indian National Army (INA) memorial at an appropriate place in Delhi to honor the soldiers of the last attack on British imperialism and to remind Netaji’s famous call of ‘Chalo Delhi’.”

Drawing attention to the location of Netaji’s remains, Bose said, “You are also aware that Netaji’s remains lie at the Renkoji Temple in Tokyo in remote Japan. Over the decades, INA veterans as well as Netaji’s daughter Professor Anita Bose-Pfaff and her family members have approached the Government of India on several occasions to repatriate the hero’s remains to their homeland.”
