The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday, December 26, said India and the United States are continuing talks to finalize a fair, balanced and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that recently the US Deputy Trade Representative visited india And met with several officials to advance discussions on the trade agreement.

Earlier this week, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had said on December 22 India-US trade talks are at “advanced stage”He also said that India is exploring the possibility of a free trade agreement (FTA) with Canada as part of its broader trade expansion efforts.
Speaking at a press conference after India and New Zealand announced the conclusion of the FTA, Piyush Goyal said the series of trade agreements signed this financial year underlines “India’s growing strategic importance” in global geopolitics.
The talks come as India moves to address long-standing US concerns over “onerous” import-quality requirements.
India streamlines import quality checks to ease trade
Earlier on Wednesday (December 24), New Delhi had announced Reforms to simplify its import quality checks, This involves less paperwork, shorter timelines and fewer inspections for quality approvals, according to a statement from the commerce ministry.
