The 14-year-old was honored with India’s highest civilian award for children aged 5-18, which recognizes exceptional achievement in fields including sports, bravery, innovation, science, social service and culture. Suryavanshi was one of the 20 young achievers honored at the ceremony.

His presence at the Rashtrapati Bhavan meant he missed Bihar’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur, an incident which attracted attention given his recent form, which was an innings of 190 off 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the previous match. However, the absence was due to official instructions requiring him to report early in the morning for the awards ceremony.
Addressing the award winners, President Murmu appreciated the contribution of the children.

He said, “Your achievements inspire the entire nation. Every child honored today is equally important and valuable.” βIt is because of such talented children that India is shining on the global stage.β
He said that although only a few names could be mentioned due to time constraints, each awardee has made significant contributions in their respective fields, and he credited their parents and families for their support.
Suryavanshi is now unlikely to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy again this season. Hopefully his focus will shift to the international stage, the promising batsman is set to join the India Under-19 team ahead of the Under-19 World Cup starting on January 15.
