jair bolsonarobrazilian East chairman, had to do double hernia surgery today brasiliaHis family confirmed.
Hospitalized since Wednesday, he is serving a 27-year prison sentence for an attempt coup d’étatInstalled last November.
The court granted permission after police doctors confirmed the need for it due to pain. The DF Star Hospital team estimates that the surgery will last for about four hours.
It follows a series of operations for the 2019-2022 leader since he was stabbed at a 2018 campaign rally.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who oversaw Bolsonaro’s coup trial and sentenced him to prison, authorized the procedure, but rejected the former president’s request for home detention after leaving the hospital.
According to officials, Bolsonaro has no contact with some of the other prisoners at the federal police headquarters in Brasília, where he is being held and where his 12-square-meter (about 130-square-foot) room has a bed, a private bathroom, air conditioning, a television and a desk.
He has free access to his doctors and lawyers, but other visitors must obtain approval from the Supreme Court. On Wednesday, de Moraes authorized Bolsonaro’s sons to visit him while he remains hospitalized. He is also accompanied by his wife Michelle Bolsonaro.
Early Thursday, his eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, told reporters before surgery that his father had written a letter confirming that he had appointed him as his political party’s presidential candidate in next year’s election. Flavio Bolsonaro announced on 5 December that he would challenge President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is seeking a fourth consecutive term, as the candidate of Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party.
The senator read the letter to reporters and his office released a copy of it to the media.
“He represents the continuation of the path to prosperity that I began long before I became president, because I believe we must restore the responsibility to lead Brazil with justice, determination and loyalty to the aspirations of the Brazilian people,” Bolsonaro said in a handwritten letter dated December 25.
The former president and several of his allies were convicted by a panel of Supreme Court judges of attempting to overthrow Brazil’s democratic system following their defeat in the 2022 elections.
The plot included plans to assassinate Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alcmin and de Moraes. There were also plans to encourage an insurgency as early as 2023.
Bolsonaro was also convicted on charges that included leading an armed criminal organization and attempting to violently end the democratic rule of law. He has denied any wrongdoing.
