A colorado Woman Suspected of murdering his two young children Has been extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States to face charges.
Kimberly Singler was Arrested in London in December 2023,
This comes just a week after their nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were found dead in their Colorado Springs home. His 11-year-old daughter was injured but survived.
According to court documents in Britain, the girl told an investigator that her mother said God made her do it.
Singler, who suffered superficial stab wounds, told police that a man who had broken into the apartment was responsible for the attack. Initially she was considered a victim.
Her surviving daughter initially supported Singler’s claim, but police sought to arrest Singler on December 26, 2023, when they said the girl had changed her story.
By then Singler was gone. Four days later she was found in Chelsea, a posh area of London, and arrested. It is not known why she reached there.
Singler, 37, fought extradition and denied attacking his children. His London defense attorney, Edward Fitzgerald, argued that Singler should not be extradited because if convicted of first-degree murder in Colorado, he would face a mandatory sentence of life without parole – a sentence that violates European human rights law.
Fitzgerald represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. His long fight against extradition To face espionage charges in the US.
According to the court clerk’s office, Singler does not yet have a U.S.-based attorney listed to represent him in court documents.
A judge rejected Singler’s challenge in January 2025, and his bid for an appeal was rejected in November.
Singler has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the two children. According to court documents in the UK, the family was living with Singler’s mother during the custody battle, but the mother was away at the time.
Singler also faces one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse and one count of assault.
According to UK court documents, the children’s bodies were found by police shortly after midnight on 19 December 2023.
Police said they found no footprints in the snow leading to the patio, where Singler said an intruder entered through an open door and attacked her, knocking her unconscious.
She told police that her ex-husband had “previously dreamed of killing his family, the father of the children was always trying to ‘frame’ her and ‘get her arrested’ and take the children away from her,” Judge John Zani said in ruling against Singler at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in January.
Police said GPS records showed that her ex-husband was driving a truck about 80 miles (130 km) away at the time of the murder.
The day before the children’s bodies were found, a judge in Colorado ordered Singler to comply with a previous order allowing the father to take custody of them for the holidays, according to state court records.
She was told to either hand over the children to her ex-husband herself or bring them to a court hearing on December 20, 2023 so that their custody could be exchanged.
On the day of the hearing, Singler asked the judge to delay it, writing in a motion that she and her children had been attacked and two of the children had been murdered. She asked for time to grieve the loss of her children and “to regain my composure after this incident.”
